I checked out a van that I had seen for sale online and was keen to know all about it. I used the free check to start with, see what it came up with first before paying for a more in depth check. The colours of the van I was looking at didn't match what DVLA thought it was. I will leave well alone! I didn't go as far as paying for the advanced check, there didn't seem much point. Thank you very much Next Car Check and my thanks to the lovely Molly who helped me through the process. I will definitely use this company again. PS Promise to give you some money next time.

Pre-Purchase Inspection, Pre-Purchase Inspection, Next Car Check

When you buy a used car, it can be difficult to know exactly what you’re getting. With the pre-purchase inspection in our Vehicle Inspection, you can see whether a car’s in good order before you buy.

As part of our inspection, we’ll:

  • Aim to inspect your chosen vehicle usually within 2 to 4 working days of booking
  • Carry out diagnostics checks in our comprehensive inspections
  • Provide a Full Vehicle History Report (including outstanding finance, written off and stolen checks)
  • Email you a detailed written report within 24 hours of the inspection
  • Include a full photographic report in the price

Vehicle Inspection options

The price and level of inspection depends on the level of inspection you would like. Consider the type, age, value and model of vehicle, and excludes insurance write-offs.

We can inspect cars, 4x4s, motorhomes, vans, hybrid vehicles and electric cars and vans.

Pre-Purchase Inspection, Pre-Purchase Inspection, Next Car Check

What is a vehicle inspection?

Every vehicle has a story to tell. And when you’re buying a used vehicle, it’s hard to tell what condition it’s in just by looking at it.

That’s where our Vehicle Inspection with pre-purchase checks can help. The inspection includes:

  • Qualified engineer to inspect the car (or van or motorhome) you’re interested in.
  • A report for peace of mind that it’s roadworthy and safe.
  • Details about any hidden problems we find before you buy.

Once you have your report, you can point out the issues we’ve found to the seller before you buy. That way, you can ask the seller if they can fix it or reduce the price before you part with your money.

Why do I need a vehicle inspection?

You can save yourself time, hassle and potentially thousands of pounds with a used car inspection. It won’t delay the sale and it’ll help you avoid any costly surprises.

Our trained engineers give you a completely neutral report on the vehicle’s condition. It means you’ll quickly have detailed information to help you decide whether or not to buy.

If you do decide to buy, you might be able to negotiate a better price with the information in your report.

Is it worth getting a used car inspection?

Buying a used car? If you’re not confident in your mechanical knowledge, then it can be daunting to try and find a car that won’t break down.

The good news though is that rather than just looking over a car yourself, you can find plenty of people who can do that job for you. In some cases, some sort of inspection could even be included in the price of the car.

The most thorough checks tend to come when you buy the car through an Approved Used scheme, but it’s quite possible a franchise or independent dealer will include some form of check as part of their sales package.

However, if there is no such check – or you don’t think the existing one goes far enough – you can get any one of a number of organisations to do the job for you…Next Car Check is just one of them.

Perhaps the most well known are motoring organisations the AA and RAC, however, these tend to be costly.

For a start, most offer a variety of packages for buyers to choose from, and you’ll need to check the fine print to see what each inspection does and doesn’t include. In the case of a Next Car Check inspection, we also include a look into the documentation and a history check.

Are they worth it? Well, that very much depends on your point of view. Many of our customers insist that you can’t put a price on the peace of mind our pre-purchase inspections can bring.

How does a Next Car Check Inspection Compare?

The AA

Pre-Purchase Inspection, Pre-Purchase Inspection, Next Car Check

www.theaa.com/vehicle-inspection

The AA’s vehicle inspection is typical of the most extensive pre-purchase checking you can carry out and offers two options beginning with the ‘Basic’, costing “from” £142 and only available for cars up to ten years old.

The engineer provides a report, with photos, focusing on up to 155 check points, plus a road test of up to five miles. Included are the body, engine compartment, electrics, suspension, steering, clutch, gearing, exhaust, fuel system, brakes, wheels and tyres.

A Comprehensive inspection currently costs from £191 and extends the areas covered up to 206 points, checks the bodywork for accident damage and extends the road test for up to 10 miles.

The RAC

rac.co.uk/buying-a-car/vehicle-inspections

The RAC runs a similar series of vehicle checks to its main rival. The ‘Basic’ test costs £99, and is a 218 point mechanical and structural inspection plus a three-mile road test. Move up to ‘Comprehensive’ and you’ll get a 307 point check with a ten-mile road test.

At £239, the ‘Advanced’ test includes diagnostic testing of key parts of the vehicle, analysing brake fluid and extending the road test up to 20 miles. The engineer’s report will also include photo evidence.
